View of the City

spokane fallsWe don’t live in the world’s biggest city, or its most exciting. We don’t even live in a well-known city. After all, Spokane isn’t like Seattle, or Portland, or New York, or Washington D.C. But, we do live in a beautiful city; a city that thousands call “home.” And a good home it is, too. Four seasons, easy commutes, great options for housing, quality schools, and escaping to the great outdoors isn’t a long trip.

Spokane is a beautiful place. But it is filled with broken people. Every day at the courthouse, people are filing for divorce, being convicted of crimes, being sentenced to jail. Every night, police respond to violence. Just this past weekend, a WWII veteran was laid to rest. His tragic passing made the national news, because he was beat to death by two teenagers during a robbery. Spokane has a red light district, where children are being sold and treated as slaves. Be warned; this story is graphic.

Beautiful, but broken. That is our city. And it breaks our hearts. But what can one family do? Well, God has called us here to do something. So, we’re doing whatever we can to share the love of Jesus with those around us.

To better understand our passion, follow this link to a video produced by Cru, to describe what God is doing in cities. Hopefully you will be encouraged. And, if you want to be part of changing the status quo in Spokane, please contact us and we’ll see how we can work together to make a difference in this beautiful place we call home.
